Sustainable AI and Energy-Intelligent Infrastructure

Sustainable AI in this portfolio is about both sides of the problem: making AI systems themselves more efficient, and using AI to reduce the energy footprint of the infrastructure they manage. In wireless networks and smart agriculture, this includes anomaly detection for energy waste, thermal optimisation, battery-aware operation, renewable integration, and lightweight edge intelligence.

The aim is to design intelligent systems that improve resilience while using energy, water, communication, and compute resources more responsibly. This creates a research agenda around efficient adaptation, low-power sensing, carbon-aware deployment, and practical methods that align operational performance with long-term sustainability.
